This will sit more politely in your blend, though make no mistakes about it, this is unmistakably oud: dark, foreboding and rich. It also has a price point that is less jaw-dropping.

This particular oud comes from a single family-owned Vietnamese distillery that manages four forests of Aquilaria crassna. The trees produce two grades of resinous wood: white wood is distilled into Agarwood Boya Oil, while the higher-resin grey wood becomes this oil — the darker, more animalic of the two.IFRA 51: 2.8% in finished product

Odour Profile: Oud Oil, Vietnam has a deep, warm woody aroma with rich animalic depth, pronounced smoky-leather facets, balsamic warmth and a soft fruity sweetness underneath.

Uses: Premium natural oud for haute parfumerie — orientals, woody compositions, leather accords and Middle Eastern mukhallats.
